Our short series on Ephesians came to an end last Sunday. We are grateful to the Lord for His blessings upon the word preached and look forward to a shift in the mentality of the church towards understanding the blessings we have in Christ. Next Sunday May 11th I shall be preaching God’s word; pray for the Lord to draw near and speak to us.
At present we are also doing the Discipleship courses called “Sigueme” (Follow me). It is foundational but it is amazing to see its effect upon new and old believers. Every Wednesday we meet to study and also to share afterwards on our walk with God. Pray for a special blessing upon all of them.
Our 8th Editorial Peregrino Conference was a real encouragement. Mr Roy Davey-Jenkins spoke on The Life and Legacy of Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones. A good number of people attended the conference and it was good to renew fellowship.
Also, as Editorial Board, we had the opportunity to meet to plan which books to publish in 2014 and 2015. We have a good scope of producing at least 20 new titles, some reprints and others first edition. Pray for good management and cost effective investments. Matt Hill has started his work as Managing Director of Editorial Peregrino and he asks us to support him in prayer. Remember also all the financial challenges to meet payments and to find sponsors to support this important reformed literacy work.
Continue to pray for the fellowship in Moncada Town. The Town Hall has offered them premises for their use; they have been using a small hairdressing salon over many years to meet as a church. They have also used private homes. This has been an answer to many years of faithfully asking the Lord for this need. Give thanks to Him. From Valencia, we shall continue to support them and will visit them regularly to preach and teach God’s Word. Pray for Rebecca Cox who as their missionary will be visiting USA for a furlough lasting nearly 3 months.
At Easter, Valencia like many other cities and towns in Spain celebrated “Holy Week” with the typical processions in which they express their faith, albeit attached to a view of the Lord and the gospel generally distorted. As it happens, Helen and I were visiting the seaside and we were overwhelmed by the lasting effect of this tradition which generally is passed from generations to generations.
We could show hundreds of pictures but one suffices to identify the dark nature of this event. Please pray for the Evangelical Churches in Valencia that we will faithfully preach the Gospel. The Lord has placed us here and it is our responsibility to bring the Gospel to every person in this city. Thanks.
Our social work continues to attract nearly 100 people each Tuesday. We are grateful to the Lord for this opportunity to serve in the community; each week we have new visitors. Pray for a breakthrough in these families. The project for refurbishing the kitchen is progressing too slowly. We have received funds but still need to look for a viable project to meet our vision and resources. Please continue to pray for this venture.
As a family we are grateful for all your prayer and financial support. Continue to pray for guidance for Elis’s future; Joel is enjoying his first year in University. Give thanks for good health.
Thanks for being there,
